Your places and your hours never leave your iPhone. PlaceClock has no server, no account, and no idea who you are.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything the app records lives in a file on the phone itself:
- The places you create: name, coordinates, radius, colour and goals.
- Your visits: which place, what time you arrived, what time you left.
- Your settings.
None of it is sent anywhere. There is no copy on a server of ours and no database of ours, and we could not look at it if we wanted to. If you back up your iPhone, that file goes into your backup, which is between you and Apple. Delete the app and it goes with it.
Location
PlaceClock asks iOS to tell it when you cross the edge of a place you created. It does not record your route. There is no trail of where you have been: only arrival and departure times for the places you marked, and those stay on the phone.
The “Always” permission is needed because without it the app could only count while you had it open on screen, which defeats the point.
What does leave the phone
Three things, and none of them is about where you are.
1. Your purchase
If you buy PlaceClock Pro, RevenueCat handles it. It receives your App Store receipt, an anonymous identifier it generates itself (not your name, your email or your Apple ID) and the technical details any connection carries: device model, iOS version and the IP address it connects from. It is there for two things: knowing whether your Pro is still active, and letting you restore it on another device.
2. The payment
Apple takes it. We never see your card or your payment details.
3. Searching for an address
When you type in the search field while creating a place, that text goes to Apple Maps to be resolved, exactly as it would in the Maps app. Apple does not receive your visits or your hours.
What there isn't
No analytics. No crash reporting. No ads. No trackers or tracking identifiers. No account, no sign-up, no password, no email. We do not sell or share data with anyone, not least because we do not have any.
Your rights
Because the data is on your phone, you are literally in control: deleting a place, a visit or the whole app removes it, without asking us or telling us.
For the only thing held outside — what is tied to your purchase at RevenueCat — you can ask us for access, correction or deletion at placeclock@verbena-studio.com and we will handle it. If you are in the EU or the UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Data controller: Verbena Studio · placeclock@verbena-studio.com. The legal basis for processing purchase data is performance of the contract: without it we cannot deliver or restore what you bought.
Children
PlaceClock is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Or from anyone: it does not collect personal data.
Changes
If this changes, this page changes and the date at the top is updated. If the change were a significant one, we would say so in the app too.
